Item Description
Pakistan is known for a wide array of gem crystals, but Emeralds are not terribly common in fine stones. I've seen rich green opaque stones from Pakistan, but to find a gem like this with such great clarity is rare from Swat. I've only seen a handful of them over the years. The color reminds me more of African Emeralds than they're Colombian counterparts, as it has a bit of a blue overtone. This little beauty has amazing clarity for an Emerald, which is noteworthy as Emerald is classified as a "Type-3" gemstone along with gems like Tourmaline. This means that inclusions are almost always present and accepted by dealers and collectors so when you find a stone like this, it's a big deal. The gem has a "Square Emerald" cut and really glows in the light despite its smaller size. A great gem for somebody who admires Emeralds, or if you're looking to fill a hole in your collection. Also, Emerald is the birthstone for May, so this is a great chance to pick up a present for somebody with a May birthday. It's important to note that this is a Pakistani Emerald, which are rare on the market, and not one of the more common examples from the Panjsher (Panjshir) Province in Afghanistan.
