Item Description

Emerald is classified as a type-3 gemstone which means that inclusions in the stones are acceptable in the trade for collectors and dealers. With that said, it is very difficult to find a "clean" Emerald that is over a carat. Thist stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut and is fairly gemmy with a lovely green color. Keep in mind that Emeralds cannot be held to the same clarity standard to which most other stones are held, and this stone is not by any means opaque, and could be referred to as "gem quality". The greatest aspect of this stone is the fact that it comes from the northern area of Brazil in Bahia, which is known for producing some great color Emeralds, but not often gem quality Emeralds. This is a beautiful gem from this lesser known locality for the material. It's a unique locality stone and the color is fairly rich for the size.
