Description:First off, this is one of the most interesting and unique Opals from Mexico that I have seen. The stone was custom cut by Brett Kosnar a few weeks ago, but that is only a small part of what makes this gem so special. Immediately, one can see that this is a BIG Jelly Opal from any locality. Rarely do they approach 10 carats, let alone well over 13 carats like this stone. Perhaps most importantly, the gem is essentially colorless at first glance, but when we put it under the mercury lampst to photograph it, an amazing electric blue sheen appeared! This blue color is remarkably striking and rarely seen in my experience. Some of the most well known Opals in the world come from Mexico, and this one-of-a-kind, custom "Modified Round" cut stone would make a great addition to any collection. A special gem that truly stands out amongst many other commercial stones on the market.
