Item Description

A showy, rich and RARE older combination from this abandoned gabbro-diabase basalt quarry, now on the site of a nature reserve where collecting is strictly prohibited (MINDAT). A 2.3 cm, rounded, brown datolite nodule highlights the base of the piece. Resting above the nodule is a 1.3 cm spray of partially cloaked mint-green prehnite crystals. Glassy fields of RARE apophyllite crystals dominate the piece and clusters of tiny green epidote crystals on the right side are a fine accessory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2658 and acquired in September, 1962. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Very rare and choice older combination material from this well-known German locale.
