Item Description

An exceptional and aesthetic large 360-degree spessartine garnet and smoky quartz combination from this famous Chinese locale. Classic gemmy cinnamon-orange spessartines are richly and beautifully clustered on both the smokies and feldspar matrix. The impressive, glassy, transparent to translucent smokies reach 7.3 cm, have rich color and the stepped-growth faces are a super accent. Complete all-around and in great shape. The dominating central smoky is pristine. An adjacent large smoky has a contacted face and termination, but no damage, per se. The isolated large smoky has partially contacted lower face, with no damage, per se and a secondary smoky has a very gently bruised tip. The sawed base really enhances the display quality of this striking piece. Fairly common about 10-12 years ago, specimens of this size and quality are rarely on the market today from this classic location in China. Valued at $2000-2500 today. I could not buy it in China for less, if it were there for sale (which it would not be!)
