Item Description
An impressive dense forest of intergrown, terminated, olive-green epidote prisms forms an outstanding two-sided example from the famous Type Locality in France. The lustrous, partially translucent prisms reach about 3.5 cm on this impressive piece. Complete all-around and in fabulous shape for such crystal density. All of crystals in the interior are pristine. The few broken crystals on the periphery and the basal periphery wear are certainly acceptable in the context of this very rich specimen. Probably an old-timer, but no proof. Ex Kay Robertson # 1631 and acquired from prominent East Coast dealer, John Albanese, in 1960. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). This is a wonderful old-time Alpine classic. valued $1000-1200
