Item Description
A fabulous sharp gem topaz crystal with unusual blocky form from famed Virgem da Lapa. The stunningly limpid and glassy crystal has very pretty light sky-blue color. Three prism faces are strikingly glass-clear with other faces being frosted/pitted, lightly frosted/overgrown to amazingly stepped-growth on one face. Complete all-around. The ding at the base on the back side is out-of-sight. Classic and strangely formed gem topaz from this renowned locale from the Francesco Bedogne Collection # 376. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. 164 grams mass. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. The high gem quality, glassiness and luster made photography difficult.
