Item Description

Beautiful blue, vitreous, waxy luster hemimorphite botryoids fill the vug in scuptural matrix on this showy specimen from the famous 79 Mine. The quality is unusually fine for color and translucence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3520 and acquired in July, 1964. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Her label is mistaken for species and locality, as the piece is hemimorphite from the 79 Mine, not rare smithsonite from Tiger. Classic 79 Mine hemimorphite.
