Item Description

A VERY RARE, undoubtedly old-time large combination from this less well-known Austrian locale. The front of the mounded two-sided plate is highlighted by the 1.5 cm, gemmy/translucent, olive-green titanite blade nicely set along one edge and by the dramatic, rich peppering of VERY RARE, gemmy, olive-green epidote prisms. A 2.8 cm ridge of gemmy adularia crystals and scattered adularia and albite crystals are complimentary VERY RARE accessories. The back of the plate is covered with tiny chlorite-coated epidote crystals and more feldspar crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1661 and acquired in June, 1960. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A RARE, rich and very showy large combination from the Austrian locale.
