Description:An old-time, sculptural, CABINET, calcite specimen from the historic iron mines of Cumbria, England; and the Russell Jones Collection. Lustrous, translucent, light gray, nailhead calcite crystals comprise this striking, mounded, complete all-around piece. The striking, circular depression or vug with the raised rim looks like an old well made from gray fieldstones. Nearly prisitine, only minor scattered, very modest bruising is noted on this large piece. Impressive old material from this noted locale, the overall FORM of the piece and its style make it collectible. The former dealer label (Evan Jones) has a $1000 price, which is not unfair for such a unique looking specimen.
