Description:Gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, cinnamon-colored, grossular garnets richly cover two sides of the matrix on this excellent and classic specimen from the famed and now-closed Jeffrey Mine of Quebec. The large compound crystal is 1.7 x 1.4 cm. Most of the gemmy crystal faces are beautifully striated. This is a sought-after color and quality for Jeffrey Mine garnets. The lustre is superb, and makes this a special piece that, combined with color, stands out in a crowd. The major crystals on the front are pristine, with the periphery wear noted as an admitted but only modest detraction. This very showy piece remains a highly showy and very rich example of the striking, gemmy species and noted locale which is now closed. Valued at $1250
