Description:The Round Mountain Gold Mine of Nevada has produced some superb crystallized gold specimens and this is a stellar example. The bright, rich golden, curved feather consists entirely of crystallized gold. IT IS NOT LEAF GOLD , but rather crystallized gold imitating a leaf in form...important distinction, this. Super sharp octahedrons line the edges of the tip of the front of the feather. Spinel-twins and smaller octahedrons of crystallized gold line the edges of the lower part of the feather. Under a loupe this is cityscape and complex! The body of the feather is flattened very elongated octahedrons and/or spinel-twins. The edges of the backside of the feather are also beautifully octahedrons and spinel-twins. The aesthetics and crystallization are superb.
