Description:Mordenite is one of the rarer members of the zeolite family. It seldom forms large clusters, as you see here. In this case, and from several Indian localities, it forms thick sprays of radial, acicular crystal clusters that look like snowballs. Here, you see a huge 7-cm "snowball" intergrown with another about half its size. These are beautifully accented by and perched on cream-colored stilbites. The geometric contrast is striking and this is a cabinet piece in the condition you expect for a miniature. From the noted Indian suite of late collector George Feist (he also had a large Indian suite in addition to his famous midwest collections!). Valued $750-1000
