Description:Alpine localities are well known for producing superb Adularia specimens, especially in Austria. Adularia is actually a variety of Orthoclase (typically), and is most commonly associated with metamorphic deposits such as those in the Alps. This specimen hosts several, white, blocky lustrous crystals of Adularia up to 2.5 cm with a "dusting" of Chlorite on the reverse side of the specimen, but there are also some very sharp, highly lustrous, GEM/gemmy, green and brown crystals of Titanite (Sphene) back there as well. A very showy and three-dimensional Adularia compared to so many that are relatively "flat" and boring. The piece is from the Alpine collection of Brian Kosnar and originated from the collection of Prof. Johann Zenz in Austria. According to Zenz''s label, this specimen was collected in 1962.
