Description:A superb, old-time proustite thumbnail from the historic Josef Vajdak Collection. This is a classic, aesthetic, mountain peak cluster of gemmy, wine-red proustite crystals from the famous St Joachimsthal District of the Erzgebirge, Czech Republic. The gorgeous, "ruby-silver" glows through the faces of the ice-like lustre on these sharp spires. The striking frontal view is very nearly pristine. A slight bruising to the tip of the upper left crystal is noted, but has very minimal impact on quality. Contacting on the back is out of sight. Comes with a label from the Royal Bohemian Museum with a postulated 1860 collection date noted. Factor in the famous red glow when backlit, and you have a very high quality thumbnail of proustite from ANY locality, but all the more significant from this uncommon locale. Josef is a specialist collector and dealer in such things, now retired. Valued at $1800-2000
