Description:A gorgeous, old-time, CABINET, smithsonite specimen from the ancient mines at Laurium, Greece. Lustrous, translucent, waxy lustre, powder-blue smithsonite botryoids cover both sides of this beautiful plate. Minor contacting is noted, but has minimal impact on this excellent piece. The Laurium mines were called "ancient" in the time of the Classical Greeks! This is easily one of the better large Laurium smithsonites, that we have offered at auction.
