Description:A huge scapolite crystal from a very uncommon locale - the pegmatites of the Manang District, Nepal. This sharply crystallized, doubly terminated, mottled brown to gray, monster is lustrous and translucent. One termination is a pyramid and the other is a pinacoid. Contacting at the base of one side is obvious. This remains one of the largest, sharply crystallized scapolite crystals, that I have seen from any worldwide locality. Super representative for the species and super rare for the locale. I acquired this through academic contacts and the locale is, i am sure, quite legitimate. Value??? We believe in the $500-1000 range. Never have seen another. Hefty at 396 grams!
