Description:Mooreite is a very rare sulfate that is only found in two world localities, and was named after Gideon E. Moore, who was one of the first individuals to investigat the minerals of Sterling Hill and Franklin. This piece is a micro specimen of Mooreite. I did my best to photograph the crystals under the microscope, but this is truly a micro specimen, and the crystals are small. The piece originally came from the collection of Pat Gross to Rich Kosnar in 1991, and I have photographed Pat's hand-written label on the bottom of the micromount box, which states that there is an actual crystal of Mooreite on the specimen.
