Description:Recently, a local digger in Colorado found some very interesting Pyrite specimens in the State Bridge area in Colorado. Typically, the specimens from this area are found in shale, but these new specimens are essentially crystallized spherical "floater" aggregates of Pyrite, which have formed over/around Ammonite fossils. It is not often that the Ammonite fossils are actually visible with these specimens, as the Pyrite crystals typically completely envelop the Ammonites. This piece DOES show the edge of an Ammonite fossil, which could possibly be more exposed with the proper tools. The Pyrite crystals on the specimen are rather lustrous, with sharp, golden, metallic faces and beautiful form. A unique specimen to add to a Pyrite collection, a Colorado suite, or even a mineral/fossil association collection.
