Description:A classic green Wavellite specimen from the well know occurrence at Dug Hill. The piece hosts a spherical aggregate of Wavellite surrounded by compactly intergrown Wavellite "needles" on matrix. Wavellite is known from many localities around the world, but good specimens from Dug Hill are amongst the better pieces from the United States. The species was named in 1805 for William Wavell (1750 (1751?) - 1829), a physician in Harwood Parish, Devonshire, England, who discovered the mineral.
