Description:Although this mine is best known for its Rhodochrosite and green Fluorite specimens, but it did produce some attractive sulfides as well. This piece features dozens of sharp, lustrous, tetrahedral, black crystals of Sphalerite which are associated with striated golden Pyrite crystals sitting atop a contrasting soft pink Mn-bearing Calcite matrix. Both the Sphalerite and Pyrite crystals measure up to 5 mm across, and the majority of them are complete and in good shape. A good representative specimen from this historic and world-famous locality in the San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado.
