Item Description

Yellowish-tan stibiconite has pseudomorphed a very dense forest of stibnite blades on this rich, showy and uncommon combination small cabinet from this ancient extinct antimony mine. Numerous tiny gysum blebs are noted under magnification on the pseudos and the specimen also contains sulfur. Gypsum is rare from here. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8572 and acquired in the late 1970s in a trade from an Italian who self-collected the piece. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Fascinating, rich and rare combination pseudomorph style from the locale.
