Item Description

An exceptionally FINE and RARE essentially pristine doubly terminated gypsum crystal from the famous Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, near Jet, Oklahoma. The crystal has the classic "hour-glass" sand inclusions, for which the locality is renowned for and the multiple terminations add dramatic pizzazz. It is rare to see these in such fine condition, for such a soft mineral. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 944 and acquired from Scott Williams in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). RARE, OLD-TIME Jet gypsum.
