Item Description

A classic piece of bright etched / cavernous, metallic native Copper from the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan. Typically this type of Copper forms in fractures around Calcite, and then the Calcite is etched away leaving only the pseudo-skeletal Copper behind. Much of the Copper mined in Michigan was found frozen in Calcite like this. This big, semi-arborescent, showy display piece is a great example of this well-known material from an area that produced the finest crystallized examples of this common native element in the world.
