Item Description

Hodrusite (Hodrushite) is a very rare copper bismuth sulfosalt, only found in about two dozen localities in the world. This particular piece is from the type locality, Hodrusa-Hamre, a gold mine in Slovakia (the label says it's from the 250m level). Micro metallic steel-grey spots of Hodrusite can be seen under magnification along with iridescent Chalcopyrite. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to better illustrate the specimen. It is the ONLY piece of this material that we've had to offer, and if you're a rare species collector, or if you collect sulfosalts, you can't afford to miss out on this one. This piece comes with a label from Czech / Slovak mineral expert Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
