Item Description

A classic Franklinite specimen with iconic octahedral black crystals in massive white Calcite matrix. Franklin is one of the most prolific and renowned localities in the world, and Franklinite is one of the signature species from this area. I realize that the majority of species from Franklin are rather rare and do not lend themselves to excellent display specimens, but I honestly feel that every good worldwide collection should have at least a few specimens from Franklin it, and Franklinite is certainly one of the most characteristic species from this famous historic mining district. This piece is mostly a reference specimen as it does have some noticeable damage, but it's still worthwhile to pick up for a kid who is starting to collect minerals, or just as a keepsake from one of the most prolific localities (in terms of species) in the western hemisphere.
