Item Description

A classic representation of the famous Quartz specimens from Isere, featuring dozens of very sharp, well-formed, lustrous, GEM/gemmy, prismatic hexagonal crystals which range from colorless to a soft yellow hue (from minor iron content). The largest crystal measures up to 4.2 cm, and the vast majority of them are undamaged. These are some of the most iconic Quartz crystals from any European locality (outside of the Alps), and are beloved by collectors for their form. I believe the crystals on this piece show a Dauphine habit. A wonderful cabinet display specimen of these fine qualit Quartz crystals. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #367). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
