Item Description

Elmwood Fluorites have become some of the most desirable specimens on the market for their excellent size, color and quality. This piece features a group of sharp, well-formed, gemmy purple Fluorites with the classic "gem" corners of a lighter somewhat light pinkish-yellow hue. The largest crystal measures 3.2 cm on edge and are sitting beautifully on dark reddish-brown Sphalerite matrix. The crystals are well isolated and for the most part, the piece is in good shape, with some peripheral cleaves that don't detract from the overall apperance and quality. Please note that the piece does have a saw mark on the bottom, but displays well as you can see. Hard to find on the market, and was probably mined in the 1980s based upon similar specimens on the market. Valued at $950. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #50). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
