Item Description

An odd and rarely seen specimen of Hematite from Naica with notably triangular shaped "stepped" faces on the display side of the specimen. The faces almost resemble mountain peaks, while the back of the piece is rather smooth with narrow striation lines bunched together. The piece has brilliant / splendent metallic luster with a silvery-grey hue. It doesn't honestly look like Hematite from any other locality, and were it not for the label, I would have never guessed it to be from Naica, as I've never seen one before. A hard to find miniature for anybody who collects worldwide Hematites or Mexican minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12429). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
