Item Description

An attractive, good sized, sharp, lustrous, GEMMY, soft NATURAL blue color crystal of Topaz from Governador Valadares (no specific mine given). The piece is fairly good sized for Topaz from any locality, but the irony is that it was actually larger, as it's cleaved on the back (technically that would be the base of the crystal since the faces you can see are actually the termination). The piece weighs 315 grams and looks beautiful in any light. It's in great shape on display on the side with many fine quality, sharp, smooth, well-formed faces. Very attractive and hard to find on market these days. Valued at $700. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #677). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
