Item Description

Dozens of frozen crystals of purple-clove colored Piemontite in Calcite matrix with minor Braunite from Saint-Marcel, Val d'Aosta, Italy. I haven't seen many of these over the years, and it's a great chance to pick up an historic Alpine specimen for your collection. Piemontite is part of the Epidote group, and good crystals are few and far between in the mineral world. This piece is from an old East Coast collection, and comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957.
