Item Description

An older specimen of Calcite from Guanajuato featuring sharp, gemmy, colorless scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 1.7 cm sitting on matrix. The piece is in great shape overall, as nearly every crystal on the display side is pristine, save the periphery where some are conacted as a result of being removed from the pocket wall. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece dates back about 70-75 years! A wonderfully historic small cabinet display specimen with wonderful pedigree.
