Item Description

A lovely gemmy prismatic crystal group of Vesuvianite from the classic (and now nearly finished) Jeffrey Mine in Canada. This locality was one of the largest open-pit Asbestos mines in the world, and is well known for its colorful and distinctive Vesuvianite specimens which can range in color from colorless to purple to green in most cases. This piece features a prominent crystal with smooth, lustrous faces and is in great shape overall, although it does have a small contact near the base. It's mostly green in color, but the termination and the back of the crystal show the desirable puprlish-pink hue, which is caused by manganese. The color is excellent on this thumbnail sized specimen, and now that nothing is coming out of this mine, be sure to get specimens from Jeffrey while you can.
