Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff on one of his famous 3x5 index cards that states the piece was personally collected by Wulff. This is a great old display piece featuring a good quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, nearly doubly-terminated prismatic crystal of richly colored Smoky Quartz. The piece is almost 100% complete, and would be a true "floater" were it not for the fact that there is a contact on one end. Even though the label says it's doubly-terminated, one of the terminations is not completely there. It's a significant old time specimen dating back probably around 50-60 years. An attractive specimen from this noteworthy collection.
