Item Description

A wonderful thumbnail of this now hard to find material. Klein Spitzkopje is well known for its Topaz specimens, and like most granitic pegmatite localities, you can find textbook examples of the species in gem quality crystals. This piece is a very sharp, highly lustrous, gem quality, very pale yellow color textbook crystal with only a slight contact on the front. The other faces are notably smooth like glass and the piece is literally WATER CLEAR in areas. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The specimen come with a typed label on the bottom of "Perky" box that states it came from Ward's Minerals.
