Item Description

The Dioptase specimens from the Guchab-Rodgerberg area actually predate their famous counterparts from Tsumeb (the mining took place from only 1908 to 1927), and are RARELY seen for sale on the market. This piece is a lovely matrix specimen of this elusive material featuring a tighly packed vug of near "Tsumeb-quality" crystals on matrix. The razor sharp, very lustrous, rich emerald green, stout trigonal crystals measure up to 1.0 cm and all of them appear to be damage free as far as I can tell with the naked eye. This piece came to us in an old mix of specimens that we picked up at the Denver Show a couple weeks ago, and simply had a small tag that said "Guchab, Namibia" with it. Very good quality for this approx 100 year old material!
