Item Description

For all the Fluorite specimens that have come out of China, this a rather attractive specimen hosting razor sharp, virtually WATER-CLEAR, (almost ice-like) lovely green color, slightly stacked, cubic crystals up to 2.0 cm on edge forming a great cabinet size display piece. The specimen displays very nicely from several angles, and just looks like a pool of liquid green in your hands. The faces of the crystals have excellent luster as well, and you can actualy see some distinct cubic "phantoms" inside of them when backlit. Were it not for a contact on the corner the piece could easily be valued at $2500-$3000 retail, but unfortunately the piece is not completely damage free. Lastly, it must be noted that the color of these crystals really stands out under fluorescent lighting as opposed to incandescent lighting, but the piece truly must be seen in person to appreciate it gemminess and elegant beauty. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #509). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
