Item Description

Arguably the finest quality Realgar crystals in the world are found at the Shimen Mine. The size compared with the electric red color makes them very popular with collectors. Here we have a good sized, super-gemmy, intensely red crystal group of Realgar, mostly complete, terminated and lustrous all around (despite a bit of edge wear). These are amongst the most beautiful red crystals in the mineral kingdom. Please keep in mind that they are very light-sensitive and turn dark over time when exposed to light! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12699). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive full sized thumbnail this famous known locale.
