Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff glued to the bottom of the "Perky" box. The piece was personally collected by Wulff. This is a great old display piece featuring a good quality, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, gemmy prismatic crystal of Smoky Quartz with associated blue-green Amazonite on the side. Good thumbnails of this material are seldom available for whatever reason, and it's hard to get good combos of Smoky Quartz and Amazonite in this size. It's a wonderful old time specimen dating back probably around 50-60 years. An attractive specimen from this noteworthy collection.
