Item Description
Specimens of Hematite are exceedingly rare from Altenberg. This hefty small cabinet features a centrallized vug that is packed with sparkling, silvery-grey colored flattened rhombs of Hematite ("disc"-shaped) meauring up to 4 mm across which are dotted by tiny brown Siderite crystals. This is honestly the first piece of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions, and is really fun to view up close with a loupe. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8141) (Originally labeled as coming from a mine called "Roemerschacht-Zwitterstock". Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
