Item Description

A beautiful display specimen of the classic twinned Dolomites from the Magnesite deposit at Sunk in Austria which dates back to 1641. The piece features a predominant, colorless, very sharp, well-defined rhombic twinned group of Dolomite measuring 4.0 cm across AESTHETICALLY sitting on Quartz matrix! Additional crystals of Dolomite can be seen, but the main focus is on the central twin. Superb aesthetics, balance, form and overall displayability. These twins are so hard to find on matrix, let alone in such showy display specimens like this! Valued in the inventory at $1600. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2611). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
