Item Description

An attractive and somewhat unusual Fluorite from the La Collada area in Spain. They don't look like the typical specimens from the La Viesca Mine, so I'm assuming they're from a lesser known loclaity. The crystals show a stacked / built-up cubic habit with very minor tetrahexahedral modifications here and there. They are rather gemmy with a superb purple hue. The largest group of crystals measures 1.5 cm across. The vast majority of the crystals are incredibly GEMMY when backlit. Only a few minor bruises, but still very showy. Great quality all around, and certainly worth adding to a worldwide Fluorite suite or a collection of Spanish minerals. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #732). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
