Item Description

A showy and very hard to find matrix display specimen of Atacamite from Ravensthorpe in Western Australia. Atacamite is uncommon copper chloride and this is a very fine specimen of the species. I've only seen one other specimen of this material, and if you collect secondary ore minerals, or specifically minerals of Australia, this is a very worthwhile specimen to add to your collection. Brilliant, rich emerald green radiating aggregates of crystallized Atacamite sitting on gossan matrix make this a very eye-catching specimen. Good quality all around, and virtually impossible ot find on the market these days. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#417). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
