Item Description

A beautiful, sharp, very gemmy, highly lustrous, complex crystal of soft pink Morganite Beryl is associated with a minor amount of prismatic greenish-black Tourmaline sitting on Albite matrix from the Urucum Mine. The Morganite appears to be damage free all the way around, and even shows a really attractive repeating hexagonal growth pattern on the reverse side of the crystal. Matrix thumbnails of Morganite are very difficult to find from any world locality, and Brazil is no different. A showy and just plain pretty piece of this classic material. There are really only three places in the world for fine quality GEM Morganite specimens: Afghanistan, San Diego County, California and Brazil. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
