Item Description

A classic old time specimen of the well-known phosphate Wavellite from the TYPE LOCALITY in Devon which dates back to 1805. It is very difficult to find complete "balls" of Wavellite from this locality, most specimens only yield partial hemispheres as seen on this specimen. Classic golden to straw colored radiating hemispheres of Wavellite can be seen lying flat against the black slate matrix. Fine old material from this historic locality. Don't miss out if you collect worldwide phosphate or species from the type locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1936). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
