Calcite (iron-included) (ex Rogers Collection)

Item Description

An attractive Calcite specimen featuring very sharp, lustrous, well-formed, partially iron-bearing red crystals in rhombic scalenohedral formations on a plate of iron-coated matrix. The largest Calcite measures 2.3 cm across. Very good condition all the way around, save a few tiny nicks on the periphery. The piece is quite showy and sculptural and this particular style is not terribly common from Santa Eulalia. These were more abundant on the market 20 years ago, and they seem to be all but gone. Formerly in the collection of Mark and Jeannette Rogers.
