Item Description

A dramatic large calcite specimen from this famous Ohio quarry. A striking dense spray of glassy, translucent, two-toned light brown dogtooth calcite prisms is very aesthetically set on the limestone matrix plate covered with smaller calcites. The calcites reach about 6.3 cm. This exceptional 360-degree cluster is very nearly pristine, with only a few barely noticeable gently bruised terminations, outstanding for such a large specimen, such as this. The Pugh Quarry is one of the most famous Ohio quarries producing calcite, celestine, barite and fluorite specimens. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1950s to mid-1970s, with very few since. Valued at $600-750.
