Item Description

A sharply formed and cute complex California scheelite. The crystal is a water-clear, colorless gem with frosted faces. This is probably one of the best California scheelites you are ever likely to see. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a gentle bruise to one upper coner, which is certainly only a modest detraction. White/yellow SW/LW-UV fluoresence. Many, sadly, were cut into teeny tiny gems. Classic older material from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8499. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). SELDOM on the market. A MUST for the California or species collector.
