Item Description

Mineral specimens are uncommon from this British Columbia open pit porphyry copper-gold deposit started in 1977. This is a sculptural, two-sided small cabinet laminated plate of copper leaves accented with light green copper oxides. The piece has a biomorphic look to it on both sides. The mine is known for seldom available copper leaf specimens and this is an excellent, highly representative example. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11328 and acquired from well-known Canadian mining engineer, collector and dealer, David Joyce in the Summer of 1987. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
