Item Description

A large, dramatic, sculptural and unusual sharply terminated tabular azurite spearpoint from the famed Tsumeb Mine. The lustrous midnight-blue crystal has lustrous, striated faces next to striking unusually etched areas. Both sides have a distinctively different look, adding character. Even the termination edges have a strange etched look. Bright light reveals beautiful electric-blue color to both areas. This is a significant large old-time azurite crystal with uncommon and excellent form. Pristine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1999 and was acquired in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Choice, classic, older rare-style azurite, undoubtedly from the Upper Oxidized Zone.
